 Appeal

In India, we have many regions and people considered remote from the main stream of the society. In reality, no area within a country is remote to the rule of the state, which pervades every area within the boundaries of the country-much less are the people in those areas remote from the national ethos and culture of the country. AIM for Seva is an organisation established to remedy this situation by setting up adequate conduits of connection for the free flow of care and culture between the mainstream society and the people in the mountains, forests and coastal areas. That there are many regions remaining isolated from the mainstream society is not healthy either for the people, or for India and Indian culture. We need to bridge this gap by a country-wide programme of care for the people of those regions. They need to be made aware that the urban community stands behind them totally.

Therefore the AIM for Seva is launched as a programme of caring for the people living in 'remote' areas. The programme is aimed at caring for their environment, caring for health and well-being, caring for their education and self-sufficiency.

Any one individual or organisation could not accomplish this stupendous task. The heads of Hindu Mutts of different sampradayas have happily responded to our request to be a part of a common body called "Acharya Sabha" to inspire all Indians to come forward to contribute their mite for bridging this gap between people within the country.

It provides for :
  • Drinking water
  • Health-care
  • Primary education
  • Nutrition for children
  • Education in environmental care
  • Programmes for validation and promotion of their culture
  • Help in self-sufficiency, self-help and water-harvesting.

AIM for Seva is not just one more Trust. It is a movement, which will serve as an altar for individual contributions, small and big, to make a difference in the lives of these villagers. The programme of care of AIM for Seva will reach atleast twenty villages in every state this year (2001). Twenty villages would make a unit for efficient management. Each city or community in a township can adopt one or more units. The annual expenditure for twenty villages will amount to about ten lakh rupees for the first year. In the subsequent years will perhaps be less than seven lakhs. After five years we expect that most of the programmes will be taken care of by the Government Agencies so that AIM for Seva will have to undertake only programmes for continued education in terms of nutrition, hygiene, environment, culture and self-sufficiency.

Please do join this Movement and offer your contribution. (All donations to AIM for Seva are exempt from I.T. under section 80-G)
